Jatin Haria

Executive Director

As Executive Director, Jatin is responsible for the overall leadership, management and strategic direction of CRER.

He has held this post for the past 15 years, and has ensured that the organisation keeps a focus on evidence-led strategic interventions that make a real difference in tackling racism in Scotland.

He has previously served on the Commission for Racial Equality (CRE) Scotland Advisory Board, the STUC General Council and the Scottish Executive's Race Equality Advisory Forum.

Carol Young

Senior Policy Officer

 

Carol's work focuses on embedding equalities into organisational policy and practice from an anti-racist perspective. Carol’s remit at CRER includes research, policy work and development and delivery of equality publications, resources and training. Her background is in cross-strand equality work within the voluntary and public sectors.

Zandra Yeaman

Community and Campaigns Officer

Zandra works with partners and community members to coordinate CRER programmes, events, training, and networks including Black History Month, the Political Shadowing Scheme, and the Glasgow Voluntary Sector Racial Equality Network (GVSREN).

Rebecca Marek

Parliamentary and Policy Officer

 

Rebecca works with elected officials, partners, and decision makers to support CRER's parliamentary, policy, and research/information work. She monitors, analyses, and influences policy, legislation, and parliamentary developments relating to racial equality and rights in Scotland. Rebecca moved to Scotland from Ohio, USA in 2014 and has held a variety of policy development, community relations, and advocacy roles.

Erika Schmidt

Research and Policy Officer

 Erika’s work focuses on social and public policy research and related activities concerning racial equality and rights in Scotland, including monitoring policy and parliamentary developments and issues. Erika moved to Scotland from California, USA in 2017, where she worked as a corporate litigator. She has also previously held a range of community organiser, legal advocate, and policy development roles in various social justice communities. Erika is also a trustee of LGBT Youth Scotland.

Annabelle Njenga

Administrative and Policy Assistant 

 

Annabelle’s work focuses on CRER’s policy and public affairs activities by providing corporate and business support, IT and administrative services. She is involved in event planning, research activities and supports communication for Glasgow Voluntary Sector Racial Equality Network. Annabelle is also a member of the Ethnic Minority Women’s Advisory Forum.

Lorraine Barrie

Glasgow Equality Forum (GEF) Manager

 Lorraine coordinates GEF, a Glasgow-wide strategic policy forum. She is a member of the Equality and Human Rights Commission's Scotland Committee, and has previously worked as the Coordinator of South East Integration Network and as a solicitor within a community law centre focusing on discrimination. Lorraine is also a trustee of the charity Friends of Romano Lav.
