Much has been made in Scottish media lately regarding racism in political parties and the direct racial harassment and discrimination faced by the few BME elected officials in Scotland’s democratic bodies.

Recently, the Scottish Government held a roundtable discussion to address the lack of diversity and representation in public life and to consider ways to increase the participation of under-represented groups in elected office.
